Company/Group: industrial goods multinational with global presence with focus in Europe and Africa
• Product: engineered wood products (wood based panels, wood based insulation materials, melamine faced wood panels, laminates, compacts, etc.)
• North Europe Region Core markets: Germany, Poland, Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, Scandinavia, Czech Republic, Slova
• Direct and indirect channels: Key accounts, Direct Industrials, Traders/Wholesaler

Kurzprofil der Funktion

Functional responsibilities:

  • Sales, Product specification, Sales back offices, Category management of construction/insulation products, cross functional coordination with Supply Chain, Operations, Marketing and Product Development
  • Very senior role in the organization, reporting directly to Group Chief Marketing & Sales Officer
  • Overall strategy: move from volume/standard/commodity offer to value added offer (product + service)
  • Key mandate: create world class sales, specification and sales back office organizations and processes in all relevant markets and segments

Main challenges:

  • orient sales organization towards value added positioning as well as performance (including restructuring where needed), (re)define processes, systems and business metrics accordingly,
  • implement go to market strategy to penetrate direct value added segments, in particular go to market to penetrate trade distribution channels, define and implement potential new channels strategy (inside sales, e-commerce, etc.),
  • overall improve business processes and management towards best in class customer service, salesforce effectiveness and cost productivity


  • Fluent in German and English a must
  • General manager type: i.e. strategic thinking, analytical, leadership, sales management and business transformation/change management
  • Seniority/Gravitas to lead an existing/long time organization
  • Autonomy, self confidence and experience to lead strategic implementation and deliver results with minimal supervision
  • Proven experience in managing large sales organization with both direct sales and indirect/distribution sales
  • Knowledge of the wood, wood based products market/value chain
